Introduction

Birth records are available by order or in person. Baltimore City birth records over 100 years old are available online from home. To visit in person, request an appointment so that our staff can best assist you. 


What years do we have birth records?

We can provide birth records from the mid 1800s to 1924 depending upon the location of the birth in Maryland. For earlier years, please go to the 'Tips for Hard to Find Birth Records' page.


Should I Place an Order or Find a Record myself?

Place an Order

  • We are not able to take orders for records after 1924. See note above.
  • Records less than 100 years old and before 1925 require additional documentation
  • Records from 1924 require documentation

  • Start by searching the indexes through the links below.
  • Births over 100 years old are available online from home.
  • Births under 100 years old are available on the archives' search room computers.
