After examination by the board of supervisors, those appointed would serve as officer for a term of one year. The board of supervisors would record the names of the appointed judges and clerks, the date and manner of notice, and whether they appeared. If they appeared, it was recorded whether they were appointed, rejected, or excused. If they were rejected or excused, the reason is noted.
