Series Description
Documents relating to caveat hearings before the Commissioner of the Land Office. A caveat was a formal complaint protesting the issuance of a patent. The finding aid for this series includes the case number, names of the parties, tract name, county, and, if applicable, the existence of a plat. See also (Caveat Docket) in series S3 and (Caveat Opinions) in series S24. Arranged numerically by docket number. In 1967 caveats were consolidated into the warrant process; records after that date in (Warrants) in series S1285. Plats indexed in MARYLAND INDEXES (Plat References, Index) in S466.
