Index is divided into chronological sections and then arranged alphabetically by name of the groom. Provides references to BALTIMORE COUNTY COURT Marriage licenses series [MSA C376 and CM174]. For the year 1797, the license numbers 144 to 163, both inclusive, are repeated. Under the date of May 1, 1798, one of the books from which this index was compiled, states: "Stopped 1st May 1798 agreeable to Act of General Assembly, and went on a new mode this time." In addition, the following marriage records are missing: 1778 - December (1month); 1779 - January, February & December (3 months); 1780 - January to October, inclusive (10 months); 1786 - November & December (2 months); 1787 - January to October, inclusive (10 months) Totaling 26 months in 5 years.
