CDs of recorded copies of instruments pertaining to real property filed with the court for recording. The land records include deeds, mortgages, releases, leases, assignments, powers of attorney, agreements, and easements. Most of the documents date from 1882 because a courthouse fire destroyed the earlier records. The first volume in the series contains earlier materials dating back to 1840 because landowners could have deeds rerecorded after the fire. The land record books also include chattel records, i.e. bills of sale and mortgages, through 1915 and plats through 1929. The instruments in the land records provide dates of execution and recording, names of the parties, and descriptions of the land, personal property, or subject matter. Entries are arranged chronologically by recording dates. The volumes are available also on microfilm in series CM13 and CM23 and as images in series CE3 and CE4. Indexing is found in (Land Records, Index) on film in series CM39 and CM44 and as images in CE16, and CE13; (Land Records, Grantee Index) on film in series CM24 and as images in CE11; and (Land Records, Grantor Index) on film in series CM25 and as images in CE12. Plats after 1929 are found in (Plat Book) in series C2237 and chattel documents for 1957-1964 in (Chattel Records) in series CM11.
