The county copies of subdivision and condominium plats, filed with the circuit court since 1925 and 1986 respectively. The series also contains survey and easement plats. The latter encompass roads, streets, railroads, and utilities. In general the documents are arranged chronologically by filing date, and referenced with book and page numbers. In 1988 the court switched to a plat cabinet system wherein each citation consists of the letters PC, the equivalent of a book number, and consecutive page numbers. Plats filed since July 1999 continue to receive the PC references, but the record copies at the courthouse exist only on aperture cards provided from the originals by the Archives, as found in (Plat Book, Aperture Cards) in series C2802. The first three volumes and part of the fourth one, containing many of the first state road plats filed by the State Roads Commission, were filmed by the Land Office in 1947, as found in series CM328. Plats prior to 1925 are found in (Plats from Land Records) in series C2796 and C2797. The plats in this series C2800 will be used to supplement (Subdivision Plats, CE) in series S1241 as needed to fill in gaps or provide more complete or clearer copies. The records prior to 1946 will be scanned only within C2800. The Archives will create an electronic finding aid from (Plats, Index) in series C2808, supplemented by the records themselves.
