Ch. 412, Acts of 1933 directed the clerk of the circuit court to begin recording plats in plat books, instead of land records. The clerk was authorized to remove the earlier plats from land records and re-record them separately. A few plats were so removed and given a number consisting of the letter M and consecutive numbers ranging from 1 to 41. Over time the original purpose for this series evolved to include other materials older than 1932, such as state road plats, motel plans, a topographic map, and land acquisition plats. The Archives will create an electronic finding aid from the records themselves.
