Series Information
PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTY
COURT
(Road Record)
1830
C1296
Series Description
Record of public roads in use in the county since 1778. A law
passed in 1826 (Ch. 9) directed the levy court to prepare a list
of these roads, assign a number to each road within an election
district, and file the final document with the court clerk. The
commissioners appointed to ascertain and number the roads
completed their survey in 1828. After time to consider objections
from citizens, the levy court ratified the list and filed it with
the county court clerk for recording in 1830. The entries are
arranged numerically by election district and then by road
number. The original list is found in (Road Papers) in series
C1292.
