Series Description
This manuscript series is a collection of digital images of maps, plats, and atlases of the City of Baltimore. It has been directly inspired and facilitated by the work of Richard J. Cox, who created an index of hundreds of cartographic records of Baltimore, and the comprehensive survey of the mapping of Maryland undertaken by Edward C. Papenfuse that formed the foundation for his and Joseph M. Coale III, The Maryland State Archives Atlas of Historical Maps of Maryland 1608-1908, (Baltimore: The Johns Hopkins University Press, 2003). What makes the images in this collection derived from these works so invaluable, is that they are not limited to any one institution's holdings, nor bound by record groups or series. There are, however, some reproduction and copyright restrictions related to the images made accessible in this virtual collection. The are presented here for educational and research use only. Permission to reproduce in any form must be secured from the copyright holder and the citation from this collection must accompany any use or mention of these images.
