In 1989 the Chapman family donated a collection of papers to the Baltimore City Archives. The Chapman family is an old and distinguished family that played an important role in the history of Baltimore City. John Lee Chapman served as the Mayor of Baltimore from 1862 to 1867.
Most of the material deals with the settlement of Jonathan Chapman's estate and is financial in nature. Also includes is some early personal correspondence.
